MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (Interstat) — The San Diego Padres and Miami Marlins, both sporting identical 52-53 records, will conclude their three-game set Sunday afternoon at loanDepot Park. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m., with the forecast calling for 92-degree temperatures and rain. San Diego, which has taken the first two games of the series by scores of 7-2 and 4-2, will send right-hander Walker Buehler to the mound. Buehler (6-5) will be making his 18th start of the season. The Padres also listed right-hander Janson Junk (4-6) as a probable pitcher, though Buehler is expected to get the nod. Miami has not announced a starting pitcher for the series finale. Key performer for the Padres has been left-hander JP Sears, who earned the win Saturday with 3.1 innings of one-hit relief. Over his past five appearances, spanning 22.1 innings, Sears has allowed 10 earned runs with 18 strikeouts. In his last outing Friday, he worked 2.2 scoreless innings of relief. For the Marlins, right-hander Eury Pérez has been a bright spot despite a 2-5 personal record. Over his past three starts, Pérez has allowed five earned runs in 19 innings with 23 strikeouts, including a seven-inning, one-hit effort against Cleveland on July 11. He took the loss Saturday, allowing three earned runs over seven innings. San Diego’s lineup has been paced by first baseman Ty France, who drove in three runs Saturday and is 4-for-8 in the series. Miami’s Esteury Ruiz went 2-for-2 in the loss, while shortstop Otto Lopez drove in a run. The Padres won four of their previous five games entering this series, including a 19-2 blowout against Kansas City on July 19. Miami has lost four straight and six of its last seven. Oddsmakers have installed Miami as a -1.5 favorite, though the Interstat game simulator projects a 5-0 San Diego victory. The over/under is set at 8.5 runs. Sunday’s game will be the final meeting between the clubs this season. San Diego opens a six-game homestand Tuesday against Colorado, while Miami returns home to host Philadelphia on Monday.
