AP Sports Preview PITTSBURGH (Interstat) — The Chicago Cubs look to complete a three-game sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday afternoon at PNC Park. The Cubs (58-45) have won the first two games of the series, including a 3-0 victory Saturday and a 3-2, 10-inning win Friday. Chicago has won four of its last six games overall. The Pirates (53-51) have dropped two straight after a 5-3, 10-inning win Wednesday at Yankee Stadium. Right-hander Braxton Ashcraft (9-4) is scheduled to start for Chicago. It will be his first career appearance against Pittsburgh. Left-hander Matthew Boyd, who earned the win Friday with seven innings of one-run ball, is a key arm in the Cubs’ rotation. He is 4-0 with a 2.38 ERA over his last five starts. For Pittsburgh, right-hander Jared Jones remains a player to watch despite not starting Sunday. Jones allowed one run over six innings in Friday’s loss and has struck out 28 batters over his last four starts. The weather forecast calls for 82 degrees and partly cloudy skies. Chicago is projected to win 6-5, according to Interstat’s game simulator. Pittsburgh is a -1.5 favorite on the run line. The over/under is 8.5. Following Sunday’s game, the Cubs travel to St. Louis for a four-game series starting Monday. The Pirates host Arizona for three games beginning Monday.
