BALTIMORE (Interstat) — The Atlanta Braves look to salvage a split of their weekend series against the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday afternoon at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Atlanta entered the series with the best record in the National League, but dropped the opener of this four-game set 1-0 on Saturday. The Braves won Friday’s game 7-6 in 10 innings. Baltimore (50-54) counters with a yet-to-be-announced starter. The Orioles have won two of three since the All-Star break and are six games below .500. Atlanta’s offense is coming off a shutout loss, but it got a strong relief outing Friday from Elieser Hernández. The right-hander worked three scoreless innings, allowing one hit while striking out two to earn the win. He has been a reliable option out of the bullpen. Baltimore third baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand has been the Orioles’ most productive hitter in recent games. Over his past four contests, he is 7-for-15 with three home runs and eight RBIs. That included a 2-for-4 performance Friday with a homer and four RBIs. The series has featured tight pitching. Friday’s game required extra innings, while Saturday’s was decided by one run. The Braves are 6-4 over their last 10 games, and the Orioles are 5-5 in that span. Atlanta’s lineup features first baseman Matt Olson, who homered and drove in three runs Friday. The Braves have won six of their last seven games overall. Baltimore left-hander Trevor Rogers delivered a strong start Friday, allowing two earned runs over seven innings with six strikeouts.
