MILWAUKEE (Interstat) — The Milwaukee Brewers, owners of the National League’s best record, open a three-game series against the Colorado Rockies on Friday afternoon at American Family Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. The forecast calls for 75 degrees and cloudy. The Brewers (64-38) enter the contest riding a wave of momentum from a 4-3 victory over the New York Mets on Wednesday. Milwaukee has won four of its last five games and holds a commanding lead in the NL Central. Colorado (41-63) arrives in Wisconsin after being shut out 8-0 by the Washington Nationals on Wednesday. The Rockies have lost seven of their last 10 games and sit in last place in the NL West. Left-hander Shane Drohan (5-3) is the probable starter for Colorado. The Rockies will look for a bounce-back outing from right-hander Gabriel Hughes, who took the loss Wednesday despite allowing just one earned run over five innings against Washington. Over his last four starts, Hughes has posted a 2.79 ERA with 19 strikeouts across 19.1 innings. Milwaukee counters with right-hander Logan Henderson, who has been sharp in three consecutive wins. Henderson (7-2) allowed two earned runs in five innings Wednesday against the Mets, striking out nine. Over his last three starts, he has surrendered just six earned runs in 15.1 innings while fanning 17. The Brewers swept a three-game series in Colorado from June 5-7, outscoring the Rockies 28-12. Milwaukee won those games by scores of 9-7, 7-1 and 12-4. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-3 Brewers victory. Milwaukee is a minus-1.5 favorite, with the over/under set at 8.5. Third baseman Joey Ortiz has been productive for Milwaukee, going 3-for-3 with two RBIs in Wednesday’s win. First baseman TJ Rumfield went 1-for-3 for Colorado in that same contest. Following Friday’s game, the series continues Saturday and Sunday before both teams hit the road. The Rockies travel to San Diego for a two-game set beginning Tuesday, while the Brewers head to San Francisco for a three-game series starting Monday.
