CLEVELAND (Interstat) — The Minnesota Twins and Cleveland Guardians continue their four-game series Tuesday night at Progressive Field, with the Guardians holding a one-game edge in the American League Central standings. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. EDT under mostly cloudy skies, with the temperature at 79 degrees. Pitching matchup Left-hander Parker Messick (8-5) will start for Minnesota (49-51), which has lost four of its last five games. For Cleveland, left-hander Joey Cantillo is coming off a rough start Sunday against Pittsburgh, allowing four runs on seven hits over five innings in a 7-1 loss. However, Cantillo had been sharp in his previous two outings, posting a 0.90 ERA over 10 combined innings against Miami and Minnesota. He threw five scoreless innings against the Twins on July 7, allowing six hits with seven strikeouts, but took a 3-1 loss. Recent history The Guardians have won three of the last four meetings between the teams, including Monday’s victory. Cleveland also took two of three in a series at Minnesota from July 7-9. The Twins have lost four of their last six overall, while the Guardians have dropped three of their last four. Series outlook The teams continue the series Wednesday and Thursday before Minnesota returns home for a six-game homestand against Oakland and Kansas City.
