First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. CDT. The White Sox (52-46) enter the matchup coming off a 3-0 shutout of the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday, their third win in four games. Left-hander Noah Schultz (3-6, 4.32 ERA) will take the mound for Chicago. Schultz has struggled with consistency this season but will look to even his record against a Rangers lineup that has been inconsistent at the plate. Texas (50-49) dropped Sunday’s series finale against the Atlanta Braves 8-5 after winning the previous two games. The Rangers are 3-3 over their last six contests and sit two games under .500. Right-hander and probable starter for Texas has not been announced. The teams opened the series Monday with a 1-0 Rangers victory, a pitchers’ duel that saw Texas’ staff limit the White Sox to just four hits. Players to watch White Sox right-hander Sean Burke has been dominant over his last five starts, posting a 1.15 ERA and a 5-0 record in that span. On Sunday against Toronto, he tossed 6 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out five. Over his previous four outings, he allowed one earned run or fewer each time: July 10 vs. Oakland (7 IP, 1 ER, 9 K), July 4 at Cleveland (6 IP, 1 ER, 11 K), June 29 at Baltimore (5 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 8 K) and June 23 vs. Cleveland (6 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 6 K). Burke has not faced Texas this season. Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford has been one of Texas’ most productive hitters. In his last 10 games, he is batting .333 (12-for-36) with three home runs and eight RBIs. On Sunday against Atlanta, he went 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBIs. Langford also had a three-hit game at Toronto on June 26 and a two-hit, three-RBI performance against the Blue Jays on June 25. Recent trends Chicago has won four of its last six games, outscoring opponents 28-8 over that stretch. The White Sox offense has been led by Burke’s pitching and a balanced attack that produced 12 runs in a win over Toronto on July 17. Texas has alternated wins and losses over its last six games, with the offense scoring five or more runs in three of those contests.
