MILWAUKEE (Interstat) — The Milwaukee Brewers host the New York Mets on Monday at American Family Field, with first pitch scheduled for a cloudy 75 degrees. Milwaukee (62-37) leads the National League Central by a comfortable margin and will send left-hander Robert Gasser to the mound. Gasser (9-4) allowed one run over five innings in a 3-1 win against Miami on Sunday, striking out five. He rebounded after a rough outing at Pittsburgh on July 12 in which he surrendered seven earned runs over three innings. Gasser has been a key part of the Brewers’ rotation this season, posting a 3.18 ERA and striking out 98 batters over 96 innings. The Mets (42-58) have lost four of their last six and are in last place in the NL East. New York will start right-hander Freddy Peralta (5-8), who has been inconsistent. Peralta has a 4.88 ERA and has allowed 12 home runs in 108 innings. The Mets are coming off a 6-1 win at Philadelphia on Sunday, snapping a two-game skid. Right-hander Nolan McLean was the star of that game, pitching six scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts while allowing only two hits. McLean has been electric over his last four starts, posting a 0.75 ERA and 29 strikeouts across 24 innings. Shortstop Francisco Lindor added three hits, including a home run and three RBIs. Milwaukee’s offense has been potent, led by catcher William Contreras, who hit a three-run homer as a pinch-hitter in Sunday’s win. The Brewers have won six of their last eight.
