ARLINGTON, Texas (Interstat) — The Texas Rangers host the Houston Astros on Sunday afternoon at Globe Life Park, with first pitch set for a 96-degree afternoon under cloudy skies. The Rangers (48-46) enter the game having split the first two games of this weekend series. Texas won 7-3 on Friday, keyed by a four-RBI performance from Jake Burger and a quality start from Cal Quantrill. Houston (46-50) rebounded with a 7-1 victory Saturday. Sunday’s pitching matchup features a rematch of Friday’s starters. Right-hander Hunter Brown (5-7, 4.12 ERA) takes the ball for Houston. Brown lasted six innings Friday, allowing four hits and three earned runs while striking out four in a losing effort. The outing continued an inconsistent stretch for Brown, who allowed seven earned runs over four innings against Tampa Bay on July 4 but posted a 2.08 ERA over his two prior starts against Detroit and Toronto. Right-hander Cal Quantrill (6-5, 3.88 ERA) starts for Texas. Quantrill earned the win Friday, tossing six innings of five-hit, one-run ball with one strikeout. The start was a bounce-back after Quantrill allowed two earned runs over five innings in a loss to Detroit on July 4. Over his past three outings, Quantrill has a 2.70 ERA across 13 innings. The Astros and Rangers have played nine times this season, with Houston holding a 5-4 edge. Houston took four of five from May 25-28 at Globe Life Park. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-4 Texas victory. Following Sunday’s game, Houston hosts Baltimore for a three-game series beginning July 17. Texas travels to Atlanta for a three-game set starting the same day.
