AP Sports Preview BALTIMORE (Interstat) — The Chicago Cubs look to complete a three-game sweep of the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday night at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies with a temperature of 82 degrees. The Cubs (51-40) have dominated the first two games of this series, winning 5-2 on Tuesday and 9-6 on Wednesday. Chicago has won five of its last six games overall, including a 23-1 rout of San Diego on July 1. Left-hander Matthew Boyd (6-5, 3.12 ERA) will start for the Cubs. Boyd is riding a three-start winning streak and has not allowed an earned run in his last two outings. In Tuesday’s series opener against Baltimore, he threw six innings of three-hit ball, striking out seven without surrendering a run. He also tossed 4 2/3 scoreless innings against the New York Mets on June 25. The Orioles (42-50) are looking to snap a two-game skid. They have lost six of their last nine. Right-hander Shane Baz (4-8, 4.47 ERA) gets the nod for Baltimore. Baz has struggled recently, losing his last four decisions. He took the loss Tuesday against the Cubs, allowing three earned runs on six hits over six innings with three strikeouts. In his previous start, he gave up two runs in seven innings against the Chicago White Sox on June 29, but the Orioles lost 8-2. Baz has not won since June 12 against San Diego, when he allowed two runs over five innings. Players to watch: Cubs third baseman Alex Bregman went 2-for-5 with two RBIs in Tuesday’s win. Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman was 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the same game. Series history: The Cubs have won six of the last seven meetings between the teams. Projection: Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-4 Cubs victory. Baltimore is a -1.5 favorite on the run line, and the over/under is 9.5 runs. Up next: The Cubs travel to Cincinnati for a three-game series starting Friday. The Orioles return home to host Kansas City for a three-game set beginning Friday.
