MLB Preview: Mets at Braves ATLANTA (Interstat) — The New York Mets visit the Atlanta Braves on Monday at 7:20 p.m. at Truist Park in Sandy Springs, Ga. The forecast calls for 83-degree temperatures with clouds. The Braves (52-36) enter as heavy favorites over the last-place Mets (37-53). Atlanta is a -1.5 run-line favorite, with the over/under set at 8.5. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 4-2 Braves victory. Right-hander Nolan McLean (4-0 in his past four starts) takes the mound for New York. McLean has been dominant, pitching at least six innings in each of his last three outings. On Sunday, he earned the win in a 10-9 slugfest against these same Braves, allowing two earned runs on five hits over six innings with five strikeouts. He also beat Atlanta on June 12 (7-5 win, 4 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 6 K) and tossed seven scoreless innings against Cincinnati on June 17. Catcher Drake Baldwin is the player to watch for Atlanta. Baldwin homered and drove in four runs in Sunday’s loss but has struggled otherwise, going 1-for-17 in his previous five games entering that contest. The Mets took Sunday’s wild series opener 10-9, snapping a two-game skid against the Braves. Third baseman Bo Bichette went 3-for-5 with three RBIs in that win. But Atlanta routed New York 14-3 on Saturday and won 5-3 on Friday, taking a 2-1 lead in this four-game series. The Braves’ bullpen has been shored up by left-hander Danny Young (1 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 2 K on Sunday) and righty Dylan Dodd (1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 K). Following Monday’s game, the Mets return home to face the Kansas City Royals and Boston Red Sox. The Braves travel to Pittsburgh for a three-game set.
