PHOENIX (Interstat) — The Milwaukee Brewers, owners of the best record in the National League, aim to complete a three-game sweep Sunday evening when they face the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field. Milwaukee (54-32) has won five of its last seven games and holds a commanding lead in the NL Central. Arizona (43-44) has dropped seven of its last 10 and sits at .500, looking to salvage the finale of this series. The Brewers took the series opener in dramatic fashion Friday, winning 7-4 in 11 innings. Saturday’s game ended in a 0-0 tie, but no makeup date has been announced. Milwaukee has dominated the season series, winning three of four meetings, including a pair of lopsided 13-1 and 13-2 victories in April. Key to Milwaukee’s bullpen success has been right-hander Chad Patrick, who tossed 3⅓ scoreless innings in Friday’s win, allowing one hit with two strikeouts. Patrick has been reliable of late, allowing no earned runs in four of his past five appearances and posting a 0.87 ERA over his last 10⅓ innings. He has not allowed a run in 11 of his past 13 outings. Arizona will counter with reliever Jonathan Loáisiga, who also threw 1⅔ scoreless innings in Friday’s loss, striking out one. Loáisiga has been sharp recently, allowing no earned runs in six of his past seven appearances and boasting a 1.69 ERA over his last 5⅓ innings. He has surrendered just one earned run in nine of his last 10 outings. Both bullpens will likely be tested, as no starter has been announced for either team. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-4 Milwaukee victory. The Brewers are favored by 1.5 runs, with the over/under set at 9. Following this series, Milwaukee travels to St. Louis for a five-game set beginning Monday. Arizona heads to San Diego for a four-game series against the Padres, also starting Monday.
