AP Sports Preview PHOENIX (Interstat) — The Milwaukee Brewers, owners of the National League’s best record, open a three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night at Chase Field. Milwaukee (53-32) enters on a sour note, having dropped a 7-2 decision to Cincinnati on Thursday. The Brewers lost two of three to the Reds but still hold a 4½-game lead in the NL Central. Arizona (43-43) fell 6-4 to San Francisco on Wednesday, the opener of a six-game homestand that continues through the weekend. Right-hander Jacob Misiorowski (6-3, 2.18 ERA) will start for Milwaukee. The 24-year-old has been dominant of late, allowing one earned run or fewer in each of his last five outings. His most recent start came Thursday — a loss despite striking out 10 over five innings — and he fired a complete-game, one-hit shutout with 15 strikeouts against Philadelphia on June 12. Misiorowski has 48 strikeouts in his last 28 innings. Second baseman Ketel Marte leads the Arizona offense. The switch-hitter has homered in four of his last eight games and drove in three runs in a win over San Francisco on June 30. Over his past 10 contests, Marte is batting .341 with four homers and nine RBIs. The teams met April 28-30 in Milwaukee, with the Brewers winning two of three. Arizona took the middle game 6-2, but Milwaukee pounded out 13 runs in each of the other two — a 13-1 victory April 30 and a 13-2 win April 28. Milwaukee’s other recent results include a sweep of the Chicago Cubs from June 26-28, winning two of three, and a 6-5 victory at Cincinnati on June 24. Arizona dropped three straight at Tampa Bay from June 26-28 before taking two of three from the Giants at home. The Interstat game simulator projects a 7-4 Brewers victory. Milwaukee is installed as a -1.5 run favorite, and the over/under is 8.5. The Brewers continue their road trip with stops in St. Louis and Pittsburgh after this series. Arizona hosts the Brewers on Saturday and Sunday before traveling to San Diego and Los Angeles.
