SEATTLE (Interstat) — The Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners open a three-game series Tuesday at T-Mobile Park, with both teams seeking momentum in the middle of a disappointing season. Los Angeles (36-49) sends right-hander Sam Aldegheri to the mound. The Angels are coming off a 4-1 win Sunday over the Oakland Athletics, with Aldegheri earning the victory. He allowed one run on five hits over five innings with four strikeouts. Aldegheri has been inconsistent in June, posting a 1-3 record and a 5.09 ERA over his last six starts. He worked five scoreless innings in a loss to Colorado on June 2 but was roughed up for six runs in three innings at Arizona on June 17. Seattle (42-43) counters with right-hander Emerson Hancock. The Mariners dropped the final game of their road trip Sunday, falling 6-5 at Cleveland. Hancock took the loss despite a solid outing, allowing one run on five hits over 5 2/3 innings with six strikeouts. He has struggled with consistency as well, surrendering five earned runs against Boston on June 20 and six runs at Washington on June 14. These division rivals played a scoreless game Monday, the first meeting since the Angels took two of three in Anaheim from April 3-5. Los Angeles won the last two contests of that series, including a 1-0 shutout on April 4. The Angels enter the game winners of two straight after rebounding from a 9-3 loss to Oakland on Friday. Josh Lowe provided the offensive spark Sunday, going 1-for-2 with a home run and four RBIs. Seattle has lost three of its last four, including a sweep at Cleveland over the weekend. First baseman Josh Naylor drove in a run Sunday, going 2-for-4. According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projected final score favors the visiting Angels 6-4. Following Tuesday’s game, the series continues Thursday. The Angels then open a homestand against Boston, while the Mariners host Toronto.
