MILWAUKEE (Interstat) — The Milwaukee Brewers, owners of the best record in the National League at 50-31, host the Cincinnati Reds (39-43) on Tuesday night at American Family Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. Central under cloudy skies with a temperature of 87 degrees. The Brewers look to rebound from a 4-3, 10-inning loss to the Chicago Cubs on Sunday. Milwaukee has dominated the season series, winning three of four meetings, including a 2-1, 10-inning victory on June 22 and a 6-5 win on June 24. The Reds, however, snapped a three-game losing streak against the Brewers with a 1-0 win in Monday’s series opener. Milwaukee sends right-hander Brandon Woodruff to the mound. Over his last two starts, Woodruff has allowed just one hit and no runs in 11 2/3 innings, striking out 16. On June 22 at Cincinnati, he tossed six innings of one-hit ball with 10 strikeouts in a 2-1 victory. On June 28 against the Cubs, he yielded one hit over 5 2/3 scoreless innings, striking out six. The Reds counter with a bullpen-heavy approach, with left-hander Brock Burke as a key weapon. Burke has been dominant recently, allowing no earned runs in nine of his last 10 appearances. Over that span, covering 9 1/3 innings, he has surrendered just four hits and struck out seven. In his most recent outing Sunday at Pittsburgh, Burke worked 1 1/3 scoreless innings with one strikeout. He has not allowed an earned run in two appearances against the Brewers this season, spanning 1 1/3 innings. Betting lines list Milwaukee as a -1.5 favorite, with the over/under set at 8.5 runs. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-4 victory for the Brewers. Cincinnati enters on a sour note, having lost 9-4 at Pittsburgh on Sunday. Starter Brady Singer struggled, allowing five earned runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings. The Reds have dropped eight of their last 11 games. Milwaukee went 1-2 in its weekend series against the Cubs, with the loss Sunday ending a three-game winning streak. The Brewers remain in firm control of the NL Central. Following Tuesday’s game, the teams continue their four-game series Wednesday and Thursday. The Reds then return home to host Baltimore for three games starting Friday, while the Brewers travel to Arizona for a three-game set beginning Friday.
