MILWAUKEE (Interstat) — The Milwaukee Brewers, owners of the National League’s best record at 50-31, open a pivotal four-game series Monday night against the Cincinnati Reds at American Family Field. First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. CDT under a forecast of 72 degrees and rain. The Brewers have dominated the season series, winning the last three meetings in Cincinnati from June 22-24, including a 2-1 victory in 10 innings and a pair of shutouts. Milwaukee outscored the Reds 10-6 in that sweep. Cincinnati (39-43) arrives after a 9-4 loss Sunday at Pittsburgh. The Reds have dropped five of their last seven. Players to watch Milwaukee right-hander Brandon Woodruff has been dominant in two starts since returning from the injured list. In his last outing Sunday against the Chicago Cubs, he allowed one hit over 5 2/3 scoreless innings with six strikeouts in a no-decision. On June 22 at Cincinnati, Woodruff tossed six shutout innings, scattering one hit and striking out 10 in a 2-1 win. Reds reliever Brock Burke has been effective in a setup role. Over his last 10 appearances, Burke has allowed one earned run in 9 2/3 innings, striking out seven. He tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings Sunday at Pittsburgh. Projection and betting Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-5 Milwaukee victory. The Brewers are listed as a -1.5 run favorite. The over/under is 8. Up next The series continues Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at American Family Field. Milwaukee then travels to Arizona for a three-game set before visiting St. Louis. Cincinnati hosts Baltimore after this series, followed by Philadelphia.
