TORONTO (Interstat) — The Texas Rangers aim for a four-game sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon at Rogers Centre. Texas (41-42) enters 1.5 games behind Toronto (39-44) in the American League standings, but the Rangers have owned this series, winning 7-4 on Saturday, 5-4 on Friday and 6-5 on Thursday. Right-hander Cal Quantrill is scheduled to work for Texas. In his most recent outing Saturday — the series opener — Quantrill tossed 4.0 scoreless innings of two-hit ball with five strikeouts. The performance was a sharp turnaround from his previous two appearances, both losses, in which he allowed five earned runs over 4.2 combined innings. The Blue Jays counter with right-hander Dylan Cease, who lasted just 4.2 innings in Saturday’s loss to Texas, giving up four earned runs on four hits while striking out 10. Cease has a 4-1 record over his last five starts, with 36 strikeouts in 27.1 innings. Toronto is listed as a -1.5 favorite, according to Interstat’s game simulator, which projects a 6-5 Texas win. The over/under is 8.5 runs. The Rangers head to Cleveland for a three-game series starting Monday, then return home to face Detroit, the Los Angeles Angels and Houston. The Blue Jays host the New York Mets for three games beginning Monday, then travel to Seattle, San Francisco and San Diego.
