Dodgers at Padres Preview SAN DIEGO (Interstat) — The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres conclude their three-game series Sunday evening at PETCO Park, with first place in the National League West at stake. The Dodgers (52-30) hold the best record in the majors. San Diego (43-37) trails by eight games but has won the series opener 7-1 on Friday. Saturday’s game was scoreless in the early innings at press time. Right-hander Roki Sasaki starts for Los Angeles. He has struggled recently, allowing three earned runs in four innings in Friday’s loss to the Padres, and seven earned runs in 4 1/3 innings June 12 at Chicago. He did toss seven scoreless innings against the Angels on June 5. Walker Buehler takes the mound for San Diego. The right-hander is 4-0 in his last five starts, including Friday’s win over the Dodgers, allowing one earned run in 5 1/3 innings. He also worked six innings of one-run ball June 3 at Philadelphia. The Padres defeated the Dodgers twice in three games May 18-20 at PETCO Park, winning 1-0 and losing 4-0. Los Angeles took two of three May 19-20. Projections favor the Dodgers 7-5. Los Angeles is a minus-1.5 run-line favorite. The over-under is eight runs. The forecast calls for 74 degrees with clouds. Both teams will meet again next week, starting Thursday in Los Angeles.
