AP Sports Preview Rangers at Blue Jays TORONTO (Interstat) β The Texas Rangers visit the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night at Rogers Centre, with first pitch set for 7:07 p.m. EDT. Texas (38-42) enters the game after a 6-0 shutout victory over Toronto on Thursday, but dropped two of three games in a series at Miami earlier this week. The Rangers have a 2-4 mark over their past six contests. Toronto (39-41) has lost two straight, including a 3-1 defeat Wednesday against Houston. The Blue Jays are 3-6 in their last nine games. The pitching matchup features a pair of right-handers. Jacob deGrom (3-3, 3.38 ERA) starts for Texas. In his most recent outing Wednesday at Miami, deGrom took a 4-2 loss despite allowing four hits and two earned runs over six innings with eight strikeouts. He owns a 2.70 ERA over his last four starts, striking out 31 in 23 innings. DeGrom earned wins against San Diego on June 19 and Cleveland on June 7, and took a loss at Boston on June 13. Trey Yesavage (4-4, 4.50 ERA) takes the mound for Toronto. The rookie allowed one earned run on two hits with five strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a 3-1 loss to Houston on Wednesday. Yesavage has been inconsistent, allowing six runs in 5 2/3 innings against Baltimore on June 5, but holding opponents to three runs or fewer in three of his last four outings. Thursdayβs series opener saw Texas score six runs on 10 hits. Wyatt Langford homered and drove in a run. Toronto managed three hits. Texas is 3-4 in interleague play this season. Toronto is 4-5. The Interstat game simulator projects a 5-4 victory for Toronto. Texas is a -1.5 favorite on the run line. The over/under is 8.5 runs. After Friday, the teams continue their three-game series Saturday and Sunday. Texas then travels to Cleveland for three games. Toronto hosts the New York Mets for three games starting Monday.
