AP Sports Preview MINNEAPOLIS (Interstat) β The Colorado Rockies visit the Minnesota Twins on Friday night at Target Field in a matchup of two teams trying to climb out of the bottom of their respective divisions. First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. CDT. The Rockies (32-49) are coming off a series win against Boston, capping it with an 8-6 victory Wednesday. Colorado has won four of its last six games, though it remains in last place in the National League West. Right-hander Antonio Senzatela threw two scoreless innings in that win, and center fielder Cole Carrigg drove in three runs. But the player to watch for Colorado is reliever Jimmy Herget, who earned the win Wednesday with a scoreless inning of relief. Herget has not allowed a run over his last four appearances, spanning 4 1/3 innings, with eight strikeouts. The Twins (38-44) have lost three straight, including a 4-3 defeat to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday. Minnesota is fourth in the American League Central, nine games behind first-place Cleveland. Right-hander Joe Ryan is the probable starter for the Twins. Ryan took the loss Wednesday despite striking out nine over six innings, allowing four runs on eight hits. Over his last five starts, Ryan has a 3.48 ERA with 38 strikeouts in 29 innings. Interstatβs game simulator projects a 6-5 Twins victory. The teams continue the series Saturday and Sunday before the Rockies return home to face Miami and Minnesota travels to Houston.
