SAN FRANCISCO (Interstat) — The Atlanta Braves, owners of the best record in the National League, will try to halt a two-game skid Friday night when they open a three-game series against the slumping San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. PDT. Atlanta (48-31) has lost three of its past four, including a 5-2 defeat Wednesday at San Diego. The Braves were swept in a three-game series by the Padres, managing only two runs in the final two games. Catcher Joey Bart has been a bright spot for Atlanta. He homered and drove in two runs Wednesday, going 2-for-4. In his past three games, Bart is 2-for-11 with one homer and three RBIs. San Francisco (33-47) dropped a 9-6 decision Thursday to the Oakland Athletics, snapping a two-game winning streak. The Giants have lost 10 of their past 13. Right-hander Landen Roupp is scheduled to start for the Giants. In his most recent outing Thursday, Roupp allowed two earned runs on six hits over six innings, striking out six but taking the loss. Over his past five starts, he has a 4.44 ERA with 27 strikeouts in 26 1/3 innings, though he was roughed up for eight earned runs in four innings June 1 at Milwaukee. The Giants swept the Braves in a two-game series in Atlanta on June 16-17, winning 7-2 and 7-5. Oracle Park traditionally plays as a pitcher-friendly venue, but the Giants have struggled at home this season, going 16-25. Atlanta is 25-15 on the road. The Braves have not named a starter for Friday. They will continue the series Saturday and Sunday before returning home to face St. Louis. San Francisco heads to Arizona after the series. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-3 Giants victory. For Atlanta, a lineup that has scored three or fewer runs in four of its past five games will try to rebound against Roupp and a Giants bullpen that has a 4.67 ERA. San Francisco’s offense has been inconsistent, scoring nine runs Thursday after managing three or fewer in four of the previous five games. Bart, a former Giants top draft pick, will face his old team for the first time this season. He has a .267 average with 12 homers and 40 RBIs.
