PREVIEW: Rangers at Marlins MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (Interstat) — The Texas Rangers and Miami Marlins will play a split doubleheader Wednesday at loanDepot Park, with the afternoon game scheduled first followed by an evening contest. Texas (38-40) will start right-hander Jacob deGrom (6-4) in one of the two games. The two-time Cy Young Award winner has been a key piece for a Rangers team that has hovered near .500. The Marlins (40-39) have yet to announce their starting pitcher for either game. Miami took the series opener 6-1 on Tuesday, evening the three-game set after Texas won 4-3 on Monday. In Monday’s victory, Rangers right-hander Kumar Rocker earned the win, allowing two earned runs over five innings with nine strikeouts. Rocker has been effective in five of his past six starts, including a 5-0 shutout win over Kansas City on May 30. He is a player to watch for Texas. For Miami, right-hander Tyler Phillips will be a player to watch. Phillips took the loss Monday despite a solid outing, allowing two earned runs over six innings with four strikeouts. He has been inconsistent this season, posting a 5.0-inning shutout against Arizona on June 11 but also allowing eight earned runs in four innings at Philadelphia on June 16. The weather forecast calls for 89 degrees and rain at game time. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-3 Marlins victory. Texas begins a four-game series at Toronto on Thursday. Miami starts a three-game series at St. Louis on Friday.
