Rangers at Marlins Preview MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (Interstat) β€” The Texas Rangers visit the Miami Marlins on Tuesday, June 23, at 7:10 p.m. EDT at loanDepot Park, with clear skies and a first-pitch temperature of 87 degrees. Texas (37-40) sends right-hander Sandy Alcantara (7-4, 3.42 ERA) to the mound. The Rangers are coming off a 4-3 win Sunday over San Diego, in which right-hander Nathan Eovaldi pitched six innings, allowing three runs on seven hits with nine strikeouts. Eovaldi earned the win, improving to 8-4. He has won three of his last four decisions, with his only loss coming June 9 at Kansas City. Miami (40-38) counters with a right-hander to be announced. The Marlins won 2-1 Sunday against San Francisco, as right-hander Ryan Gusto threw 4 1/3 innings of one-run ball with six strikeouts. Gusto has been used in short outings; he has allowed one earned run or fewer in three of his last five appearances. The teams played Monday, a 2-2 tie that was halted after nine innings. The game will be resumed as part of a doubleheader Wednesday. Texas won two of three from San Diego over the weekend, while the Marlins swept three from the Giants. Miami has won four of its last five. Eovaldi (8-4, 3.87 ERA) will be available in relief Tuesday after his Sunday start. In his last five outings, he has a 3.86 ERA over 31 2/3 innings with 31 strikeouts. He has allowed three runs or fewer in four of those starts. Gusto (3-2, 3.86 ERA) has been effective in limited work. Over his last five appearances, he has a 3.79 ERA in 17 innings, with 15 strikeouts and five walks. The Interstat simulator projects a 6-4 Marlins victory. Texas outfielder Wyatt Langford hit a home run and drove in three runs Sunday. Miami’s bullpen has held opponents to two runs over 7 1/3 innings in the last two games. The Rangers begin a 10-game road trip that also takes them to Toronto and Cleveland. The Marlins start a 10-game trip Friday at St. Louis before heading to Colorado and Oakland.
