AP Sports Preview NEW YORK (Interstat) — The Chicago Cubs and New York Mets open a three-game series at Citi Field on Tuesday night, with first pitch set for 7:10 p.m. EDT under a forecast of 69 degrees and rain. Chicago (40-37) sends right-hander Nolan McLean (4-4) to the mound. The Mets (34-43) have not announced their starting pitcher. McLean looks to get the Cubs back on track after a 6-8 loss to Toronto on Saturday. Chicago has won three of its last five games but dropped two of three to the Blue Jays. A player to watch for the Cubs is right-hander Colin Rea, who delivered a sharp relief appearance Saturday: 5 1/3 innings, three hits, no earned runs and three strikeouts. Rea has struggled on the season, though, with a 1-4 record in his last five outings and a 6.75 ERA over that span. For the Mets, reliever Austin Warren has been steady. In his last three appearances, Warren has allowed one earned run over four innings with four strikeouts. Over his past nine outings, he has a 2.70 ERA but has been tagged with four losses. New York enters on a six-game road trip that ended with a 6-2 loss at Philadelphia on Sunday. The Mets have lost seven of their last 10 games. The teams met Monday but were scoreless before the game was suspended or delayed — the box score shows a 0-0 result. In their last completed series, the Cubs swept three games at home from April 17-19, outscoring the Mets 18-7. The Interstat game simulator projects a 6-4 Cubs win. New York is a 1.5-run favorite, and the over/under is 7.5. After Tuesday, the teams play again Wednesday and Thursday in New York before the Cubs head to Milwaukee and the Mets host Philadelphia.
