MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (Interstat) — Rain is in the forecast for Monday night’s interleague matchup as the Miami Marlins host the Texas Rangers at loanDepot Park, with first pitch scheduled for 6:40 p.m. in conditions expected to be 86 degrees with showers likely. The Marlins (40-38) enter the four-game series opener after a 2-1 win Sunday against San Francisco, while the Rangers (37-40) arrive following a 4-3 victory over the Padres. Texas will start right-hander Kumar Rocker (2-6, 4.91 ERA), though the club also listed Tyler Phillips (1-2, 5.40) as a probable pitcher in a separate transaction, creating some uncertainty about who will take the mound for the Rangers. Miami counters with right-hander Ryan Gusto (3-2, 4.37). TEXAS RANGERS The Rangers snapped a four-game losing streak Sunday behind Nathan Eovaldi’s strong outing. Eovaldi (6.0 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 9 K) earned the win, and center fielder Wyatt Langford drove in three runs with a home run. Eovaldi, a key figure for Texas, has been inconsistent recently. He threw seven innings in a win over Boston on June 14 but allowed four earned in a loss to Kansas City on June 9. Overall, he has alternated wins and losses over his last five starts, posting a 3.18 ERA across 31.2 innings in that span. The Rangers’ offense has struggled at times, scoring two or fewer runs in three of their last four losses before Sunday’s breakthrough. MIAMI MARLINS The Marlins took two of three from San Francisco over the weekend, winning Sunday on a walk-off. Gusto delivered 4.1 innings, allowing one run and striking out six. The bullpen, including Lake Bachar and John King, closed the door with scoreless relief. Gusto’s recent outings have been volatile. He recorded a win over Arizona on June 10 (4.0 IP, 0 ER) but lasted just two innings against Tampa Bay on June 5, giving up three earned runs. In his five starts, he has completed five innings only once. Miami has won five of its last seven games overall. BETTING AND OUTLOOK The Interstat game simulator projects a 6-4 Miami victory. Texas is a slight favorite at minus-1.5 on the run line, with the over/under set at 8 runs. Both teams begin a stretch of 10 games before the All-Star break. Texas visits Toronto for four games after this series, while Miami heads to St. Louis for three.
