MINNEAPOLIS (Interstat) β The Los Angeles Dodgers, owners of the best record in the National League, open a three-game series against the Minnesota Twins on Monday night at Target Field, with rain in the forecast and a pair of struggling starters on the mound. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. under a 71-degree Fahrenheit forecast of rain. The Dodgers (49-29) are installed as -1.5 favorites, and the Interstat game simulator projects a 7-6 final. The over/under is 9. Left-hander Eric Lauer (2-5) will start for Los Angeles, looking to snap a personal losing streak. The Dodgersβ rotation has been thinned by injuries, and Lauer has been tagged for 12 earned runs over his past three starts. Right-hander Mike Paredes is listed as a player to watch for Minnesota and is expected to make the start for the Twins. Paredes has been sharp of late, allowing two earned runs in five innings Sunday at Arizona and two earned runs in 4 2/3 innings June 15 at Texas. The Twins (38-41) are coming off a 4-2 win at Arizona on Sunday, a game in which Paredes earned the win. Left fielder Trevor Larnach went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Minnesota has won four of its past six games. The Dodgers were hammered 12-1 by Baltimore on Sunday, their second consecutive loss to the Orioles. The lone bright spot was utility man Miguel Rojas, who pitched a scoreless inning of relief, allowing no hits and no runs. Rojas has been used sparingly at the plate recently, going 0-for-3 on Saturday and 1-for-3 with a home run and RBI on June 15. He is batting .226 on the season. Los Angeles leads the season series 1-0, having swept a two-game interleague set at Dodger Stadium in 2023. After Monday, the teams play Tuesday and Wednesday before the Dodgers travel to San Diego and the Twins host Colorado.
