AP Sports Preview Cubs at Mets NEW YORK (Interstat) — The Chicago Cubs look to build momentum after a series loss when they visit the New York Mets on Monday, June 22, at Citi Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies with temperatures near 76 degrees. The Cubs (40-37) enter as -1.5 favorites, according to Interstat’s game simulator, which projects a 6-5 Chicago victory. The over/under is set at 8.5 runs. Kodai Senga (0-5) is scheduled to start for the Cubs after Shota Imanaga (4-6) was scratched from his probable turn. Senga has struggled in his return from injury, winless through five decisions. The right-hander will face a Mets lineup that has shown flashes of power but consistency remains elusive. New York (34-42) has dropped eight of its last 10 games, including a 15-3 blowout loss at Philadelphia on Saturday. The Mets surrendered eight runs in the first inning and never recovered. The Mets have lost three consecutive games overall and have fallen to fourth place in the National League East. Chicago dropped two of three at home against Toronto over the weekend, capped by an 8-6 loss Saturday. The Cubs have won four of their last seven. Players to watch Colin Rea has been a bright spot for Chicago. Over his last five appearances — all in relief — Rea has posted a 3.31 ERA. On Saturday, he tossed 5 1/3 innings, allowing three hits and no earned runs with three strikeouts. He will be available out of the bullpen Monday. Carson Benge has been productive for the Mets despite the team’s slide. In his last 10 games, the outfielder is batting .250 with one home run and two RBIs. He went 1-for-4 with a solo homer Saturday. Series history Chicago swept a three-game series at Wrigley Field in April, outscoring the Mets 18-7. The Cubs took the finale 12-4. Up next The teams continue the four-game series Tuesday and Wednesday before Chicago heads to Milwaukee and New York hosts Philadelphia for weekend sets. The Mets then travel to Toronto for three games beginning June 29.
