KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Interstat) — The Texas Rangers and Kansas City Royals meet Wednesday night at Kauffman Stadium in the finale of a two-game series, with first pitch set for 7:10 p.m. under partly cloudy skies and 84 degrees. Texas (32-33) sends left-hander MacKenzie Gore (4-5) to the mound. Gore has struggled recently, allowing 11 earned runs over his past three starts spanning 14 2/3 innings. The Rangers took the series opener 2-0 on Tuesday, their fourth consecutive victory over the Royals dating to a three-game sweep in Arlington from May 29-31. Kansas City (27-39) counters with lefty Noah Cameron, who is not listed on the official probable pitcher report but was the Royals’ most effective starter during the just-completed road trip. Cameron threw six scoreless innings Sunday in a 6-5 win at Minnesota, striking out seven and scattering three hits. Over his past three outings, he has posted a 0.95 ERA with 19 strikeouts in 19 innings. Texas will be without ace Jacob deGrom, who is not scheduled to start but remains a focal point after tossing six shutout innings in a 10-0 win over Cleveland on Sunday. DeGrom is 3-1 with a 1.29 ERA over his last four starts, though he was battered for six runs in three innings against the Angels on May 22. Shortstop Ezequiel Duran went 4-for-5 with three RBIs in that win over the Guardians. For Kansas City, outfielder Starling Marte homered and drove in three runs Sunday. Reliever Lucas Erceg worked 0 2/3 scoreless innings. The Rangers have won five of their last seven overall and are batting .281 over that stretch. The Royals have dropped two straight after taking three of four from the Twins. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-4 Texas victory. The Rangers are installed as minus-1.5 favorites on the run line, with the over/under set at 9 1/2 runs.
