DENVER (Interstat) — The Chicago Cubs, winners of three of their last four, open a critical two-game series against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. First pitch is set for 8:40 p.m. EDT. The Cubs (34-32) turn to right-hander Shota Imanaga (4-6, 3.68 ERA), who is looking to snap a personal two-game losing streak. The Rockies (24-42) counter with left-hander Kyle Freeland (1-5, 7.94 ERA), who has surrendered 26 earned runs over his last four starts spanning 19 ⅓ innings. Colorado is mired in a four-game losing streak, having been outscored 30-12 over its last three games, including a 12-4 loss to Milwaukee on Sunday. The Rockies have the worst record in the National League and have allowed 10 or more runs in three of their last four contests. A player to watch for Chicago is right-handed pitcher Javier Assad. In Sunday’s 2-1 loss to San Francisco, Assad tossed 6 ⅓ innings of one-hit shutout ball, striking out five. He also earned a win on May 15 against the White Sox, allowing one earned run over two innings. Colorado’s recent struggles have been exemplified by Freeland’s slide. The Rockies starter has failed to complete five innings in three of his last four outings, including a four-inning, eight-run disaster at Dodger Stadium on May 26 and a 3 ⅔-inning, seven-run outing against the Diamondbacks on May 15. Wednesday’s contest marks the second game of a four-game season series between the two clubs. The teams played to a 0-0 tie on Tuesday, a game suspended due to weather. The Cubs, who sit 2.5 games back of the National League Central lead, are coming off a series split with the San Francisco Giants. The Rockies have lost 10 of their last 12. Chicago’s offense ranks seventh in the National League in runs scored, while the Rockies’ pitching staff owns the NL’s worst ERA (5.51). The Cubs’ bullpen, despite recent innings from Assad, Daniel Palencia and Jacob Webb, has struggled with a 4.20 ERA. Freeland will face a Cubs lineup that has feasted on left-handed pitching this season, batting .263 against southpaws. After Wednesday’s game, the Cubs travel to San Francisco for a three-game series with the Giants, while the Rockies head to for a three-game set with the Athletics. The Cubs are installed as -1.5 favorites by the game simulator, which projects a 5-4 victory. The over/under is set at 12 runs.
