BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (Interstat) — The Chicago White Sox, winners of three of their last four, send right-hander Davis Martin to the mound Tuesday night against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field. First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. under clear skies and 75 degrees. Martin (8-1) has been the American League’s most effective starter this season, posting a 2.68 ERA while striking out 71 over 77 1/3 innings. The 29-year-old has allowed two or fewer earned runs in nine of his 11 starts and is coming off a 7-0 win over Detroit on May 26, in which he scattered four hits over six innings. The Twins (27-33) counter with left-hander Connor Prielipp (1-3, 5.60 ERA), who has struggled to find consistency in his return from Tommy John surgery. Prielipp lasted just 3 2/3 innings in his last outing, a 9-3 loss at Pittsburgh on May 31, allowing five runs on six hits. Chicago (32-27) has owned the season series, winning four of six meetings. The White Sox have outscored the Twins 33-13 in those games, including a 15-2 blowout on May 27 and a 6-2 win the following day. Minnesota’s lone victory in that stretch was a 5-3, 11-inning decision on May 26. White Sox right-hander Sean Burke is a key arm out of the bullpen. Burke (3-3, 4.15 ERA) earned the win Sunday against Detroit, striking out six over 5 1/3 innings of two-hit ball. In his last two outings covering 12 1/3 innings, he has allowed just three runs with 14 strikeouts. For Minnesota, third baseman Brooks Lee has been the club’s most consistent hitter. Lee homered twice and drove in three runs in Sunday’s 9-3 loss at Pittsburgh, giving him four home runs in his last seven games. He is hitting .304 (7-for-23) over that span with seven RBIs. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-4 White Sox win. Chicago is a -1.5 run favorite, with the over/under set at 8. The two teams conclude the three-game series Wednesday afternoon before Chicago travels to Philadelphia for three games and Minnesota hosts Kansas City.
