ST. LOUIS (Interstat) — The Texas Rangers look to build momentum from a series win when they open a three-game set against the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday at 7:15 p.m. at Busch Stadium III. Texas (28-31) enters the game after a 6-3 victory over Kansas City on Sunday. Right-hander Michael McGreevy (3-4, 4.88 ERA) will start for the Rangers. McGreevy is coming off a no-decision against the Los Angeles Angels on May 24, in which he allowed four runs over 5 2/3 innings. He has not recorded a victory in his past two starts. St. Louis (30-26) has lost two straight, including a 6-1 defeat to the Chicago Cubs on Saturday. The Cardinals will counter with right-hander Kyle Leahy (3-4, 3.86 ERA). Leahy took the loss Saturday, allowing one earned run on six hits over 4 1/3 innings. Players to watch For Texas, right-hander Jack Leiter has been dominant in his past two outings. He earned the win Sunday against Kansas City, striking out 10 over 5 2/3 scoreless innings. In his previous start May 26 against Houston, Leiter allowed four earned runs but struck out four over six innings in a 10-7 win. He has a 1.93 ERA over his past three appearances. For St. Louis, Kyle Leahy has been inconsistent. After allowing one earned run over six innings in a win against Kansas City on May 16, he gave up five earned runs over five innings in a loss at Cincinnati on May 23. He then allowed one earned run over 4 1/3 innings Saturday against Chicago. Recent results Texas won the final two games of its series against Kansas City. Shortstop Ezequiel Duran went 1 for 4 with two RBIs in Sunday’s win. The Rangers have won five of their past 10 games. St. Louis has lost four of its past five games. The Cardinals’ offense was held to one run in each of their past two losses. They managed just four hits Saturday against Chicago. Betting lines The Rangers are a minus-1.5 favorite, according to Interstat’s game simulator. The over/under is 7.5 runs. Interstat projects a 4-3 Cardinals victory. Weather The forecast calls for 76 degrees with rain at game time. Up next The series continues Tuesday and Wednesday before Texas returns home to host Cleveland on Friday. St. Louis will host Cincinnati for a three-game series beginning Friday.
