AP Sports Preview ANAHEIM, Calif. (Interstat) — The Los Angeles Angels host the Colorado Rockies on Monday at Angel Stadium, with both teams seeking to climb out of last place in their respective divisions. First pitch is 7:07 p.m. PDT. The Angels (23-37) are favored by 1.5 runs, with the over/under set at 8½. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-3 Angels victory. Colorado (22-38) enters on a two-game winning streak after an 8-3 win against San Francisco on Saturday and an 8-6 victory Friday, but the Rockies were routed 19-6 by the Giants on Sunday. That loss dropped them to 6-18 in their last 24 games. Outfielder Troy Johnston is a player to watch for Colorado. In Sunday’s defeat, Johnston went 2 for 5 with an RBI. Over his last 10 games, he is batting .240 with two RBIs, including a 2-for-3, one-RBI effort May 23 at Arizona. The Angels dropped a 5-2 decision at Tampa Bay on Sunday, snapping a three-game winning streak. Los Angeles had taken two of three from the Rays, including a 14-3 win Saturday. Reliever Mitch Farris is a key arm for the Angels. In Sunday’s loss, Farris threw four scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out four. Over his last four appearances, spanning 8⅔ innings, Farris has a 1.04 ERA with 11 strikeouts. Both teams are among the worst in their leagues. The Angels are 13th in the American League West, while the Rockies are 14th in the National League West. Colorado has lost eight of its last 10 games overall, a stretch that included a four-game sweep at Arizona. The Angels have won four of their last seven. This begins a three-game series between the clubs, followed by a second set Tuesday and Wednesday at Angel Stadium. Colorado’s offense has struggled, averaging 3.7 runs over its last 10 games. The Angels’ pitching staff has a 4.88 ERA over that same span.
