HOUSTON (Interstat) — The Milwaukee Brewers, owners of the best record in the National League, look to even their series against the Houston Astros on Saturday evening at Daikin Park. First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. under partly cloudy skies with the temperature near 91 degrees. Milwaukee (33-20) sends right-hander Peter Lambert (3-4, 4.32 ERA) to the mound. Lambert is coming off a no-decision against the Los Angeles Dodgers on May 22, when he allowed three runs over five innings. The Brewers have won three of his last five starts. Right-hander Brandon Sproat (1-3, 5.40) also is listed as a probable pitcher for Milwaukee, though the team had not confirmed the starter at press time. Houston (26-32) counters with right-hander Spencer Arrighetti (4-1, 2.10 ERA), who has been dominant over his last three outings. Arrighetti tossed six innings of one-run ball May 28 at Texas, struck out five over five scoreless frames May 22 at Chicago, and fired 7 1/3 innings of one-hit shutout ball May 15 against the Rangers. He has allowed two earned runs over his past 18 1/3 innings. A key player to watch for Milwaukee is reliever Chad Patrick, who has been nearly untouchable. Over his past seven appearances, Patrick has allowed one earned run in 17 innings, striking out 18 while holding opponents to a .145 batting average. He worked four innings of one-run ball May 27 against St. Louis. The Astros won Friday’s series opener 4-3, erasing a 3-2 deficit in the seventh. Houston’s offense is averaging 4.8 runs over its past eight games, all on the road against Texas and Chicago. Milwaukee has won nine of its last 12 and owns the NL’s best road record at 18-7. According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projected score is 7-6 in favor of Milwaukee. The ELO system gives the Brewers a 59.7 percent probability to win. Milwaukee is a -1.5 run favorite, and the over/under is set at 8.5 runs. The two teams conclude the series Sunday afternoon before Milwaukee returns home to face San Francisco and Houston hosts Pittsburgh. —
