CINCINNATI (Interstat) — The Atlanta Braves, owners of the best record in the National League, face the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday at Great American Ball Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. with a forecast of 72 degrees and cloudy skies. Atlanta (38-19) will send left-hander Martín Pérez (2-3) to the mound. The Reds (29-26) are expected to counter with lefty Andrew Abbott, who is 2-2 with a 2.80 ERA in his last five starts. The Braves enter after an 8-3 victory over Cincinnati in Friday’s series opener. Atlanta has won four of its last five games overall, including a 10-2 rout of Boston on Thursday. The Reds dropped their series finale against the New York Mets 4-2 on Wednesday. Ronald Acuña Jr. has been a key bat for Atlanta. The right fielder went 1-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs in Thursday’s win, though he is 1-for-17 over his previous five games. Acuña is hitting .312 with 12 home runs and 41 RBIs on the season. For Cincinnati, Abbott has been effective on the mound. The left-hander allowed two earned runs over six innings in a loss to the Mets on Wednesday. He has surrendered one earned run or fewer in four of his last five outings, compiling 18 strikeouts over 28 innings during that span. According to Interstat’s game simulator, Atlanta is projected to win 6-5. The Braves are a -1.5 favorite on the run line, and the over/under is 9.5. The Braves look to extend their dominance in the series Saturday before the two teams conclude their three-game set Sunday. Atlanta then returns home for a six-game homestand against Toronto and Pittsburgh. The Reds open a three-game series against Kansas City on Monday before traveling to St. Louis.
