Baseball Preview: Cubs at Cardinals ST. LOUIS (Interstat) — The Chicago Cubs visit the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday, May 29, at Busch Stadium III, with first pitch scheduled for 7:15 p.m. under partly cloudy skies and a game-time temperature of 80 degrees. Right-hander Kyle Leahy (5-3, 3.91 ERA) is the probable starter for the Cubs (31-26). Over his last five appearances, May has a 1-4 record with a 3.28 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 31 1/3 innings. St. Louis has lost four of five and six of its last 10 games, averaging just 2.5 runs per game over that span. Chicago has won two straight after dropping four of its previous six. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 3-1 Cardinals victory. The Cubs are listed as -1.5 run-line favorites, with an over/under of 8 runs. Interstat’s ELO system gives Chicago a 53.0 percent probability to win. The series continues Saturday and Sunday before Chicago returns home to host the Athletics in a three-game set starting Tuesday. St. Louis remains home to face the Texas Rangers on Monday.
