PREVIEW: Cardinals at Brewers MILWAUKEE (Interstat) — The St. Louis Cardinals visit the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday afternoon at American Family Field, seeking to snap a four-game losing streak in the head-to-head series. First pitch is set for 1:10 p.m. CDT under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature of 85 degrees. The Cardinals (29-23) have dropped three straight overall, including a 1-0 loss to the Brewers on Tuesday and a 5-1 defeat Monday. St. Louis is 3-7 in its last 10 games. Right-hander Dustin May (3-5, 4.18 ERA) will start for the Cardinals. May has struggled recently, allowing four earned runs or more in three of his past five outings. Milwaukee (31-20) holds a two-game lead in the National League Central. The Brewers have won five of their last six, including a three-game sweep of the Chicago Cubs over the weekend. Milwaukee has not announced a starting pitcher for Wednesday, but right-hander Jacob Misiorowski, who struck out 12 over seven innings in Monday’s 5-1 win over St. Louis, is a key arm to watch. Misiorowski has a 0.53 ERA over his last four starts, spanning 24 1/3 innings, with 41 strikeouts. Players to watch Cardinals left-hander Matthew Liberatore, who has been used primarily as a reliever this season, will be available out of the bullpen. Liberatore has pitched five times in May, including five innings of three-run ball in Monday’s loss to Milwaukee, striking out 10. Over his last five outings, he has a 4.91 ERA with 34 strikeouts in 26 1/3 innings. Brewers right-hander Jacob Misiorowski has been dominant, allowing one earned run or fewer in each of his last five starts, including a 12-strikeout gem Monday. He has not lost since April 26. Recent history The Brewers have won four of the last five meetings with the Cardinals, including a 6-2 victory May 6 in Milwaukee. St. Louis’ lone win in that stretch came May 4, when it beat Milwaukee 6-3. Simulation projection Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-5 Brewers victory. Up next After Wednesday’s game, the Cardinals return home to host the Chicago Cubs for a three-game series starting Friday. The Brewers travel to Houston for a three-game set against the Astros beginning Friday.
