CHICAGO (Interstat) — The Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox continue their four-game series Wednesday night at Guaranteed Rate Field, with first pitch set for 7:10 p.m. under cloudy skies and 79 degrees. Minnesota (26-28) will send left-hander Connor Prielipp (1-2) to the mound. The 25-year-old rookie is seeking his second career victory after posting a 5.52 ERA over his first six starts. The White Sox (27-26) have not announced a starting pitcher, though left-hander Anthony Kay could be a candidate after tossing six innings of one-run ball against the Twins on Monday. The White Sox took the series opener 3-1 on Monday behind Kay’s gem and a two-run home run from catcher Drew Romo. Tuesday’s game was scoreless when it was suspended after five innings due to rain; it will be resumed before Wednesday’s scheduled contest. Minnesota enters on a four-game winning streak against teams other than Chicago, having swept three games at Boston last weekend. The Twins have lost four of their last five overall against the White Sox dating to last season. Prielipp will face a Chicago lineup that has scored 17 runs over its last two games after being held to three or fewer in four of five prior contests. The White Sox won two of three against Seattle last week but were outscored 18-12 in a three-game set at San Francisco. Minnesota’s Zebby Matthews has been effective in recent outings despite taking losses in his last two starts. The right-hander allowed three earned runs over six innings in Monday’s loss and two earned runs over six innings against Houston on May 19. Matthews threw seven shutout innings against Miami on May 14 to earn his last win. Kay, if he starts, has won four of his last five decisions. The lefty has surrendered one earned run or fewer in three of those outings, including a five-inning scoreless start against Seattle on May 9. The Interstat game simulator projects a 5-4 Minnesota victory. Following Wednesday’s contest, the teams play the series finale Thursday afternoon before Minnesota travels to Pittsburgh for a three-game weekend set. The White Sox host Detroit for three games beginning Friday before visiting Minnesota for three games starting June 1.
