ARLINGTON, Texas (Interstat) — The Houston Astros and Texas Rangers meet Wednesday night at Globe Life Park in the third game of a four-game series, with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. CDT. Right-hander Jacob deGrom (3-4) is scheduled to start for Houston. Texas is expected to counter with right-hander Kumar Rocker. Houston enters the game at 24-31, while Texas sits at 24-29. The series is tied 1-1 after the Rangers won 2-0 on Tuesday, following Houston’s 9-0 shutout Monday. A player to watch for the Astros is right-hander Tatsuya Imai, who dominated Monday’s win with six scoreless innings, allowing no hits and striking out two. Imai has been erratic this month, taking losses against Minnesota and Seattle while allowing three or more earned runs in each of those outings. His Monday performance, however, suggests he may be finding his rhythm. For Texas, Rocker is a key figure after taking the loss Monday, allowing four runs on four hits over five innings. He has been strong in two of his last three starts, throwing 7 2/3 scoreless innings in a win at Colorado on May 19 and five scoreless innings against Arizona on May 13. But he has been tagged for three or more earned runs in three of five May starts, including a rough outing at Detroit on May 2 in which he allowed five runs in two innings. Houston has won four of its last five games, including a three-game sweep of the Chicago Cubs over the weekend. The Astros’ offense produced eight or more runs in two of those wins. Texas has lost four of its last five, dropping three straight to the Los Angeles Angels before Tuesday’s victory. Monday’s Houston win featured Imai’s shutout, a home run and three RBIs from first baseman Christian Walker, and two scoreless innings from reliever Alimber Santa. For Texas, relievers Chris Martin and Sam Haggerty combined for two scoreless innings in Tuesday’s win. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-2 Houston victory. Texas is a slight favorite by 1.5 runs, with an over/under of 7.5. After Wednesday, the teams conclude the series Thursday afternoon in Arlington. Houston then returns home for a 10-game homestand against Milwaukee, Pittsburgh and Oakland. Texas hosts Kansas City for three games before a six-game road trip to St. Louis and Cleveland.
