BOSTON (Interstat) — The Atlanta Braves look to continue their dominance over the Boston Red Sox when the teams meet Wednesday night at Fenway Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. under cloudy skies with temperatures around 78 degrees. Atlanta (36-18) owns the best record in the National League and has won three of four meetings against Boston this season, including a 7-4 victory Tuesday. The Braves are expected to start right-hander Bryce Elder (4-2), though the club had not confirmed whether left-hander Connelly Early (4-2) would instead get the nod. Boston (22-30) has dropped seven of its last nine games, including a 6-5 loss to Minnesota on Sunday. The Red Sox are last in the American League East and have lost three straight series. Players to watch Braves left-hander Martín Pérez has been effective in recent outings. In his last appearance Sunday against Washington, he threw 5 2/3 innings, allowing one earned run on five hits with two strikeouts, though the Braves lost 2-1. Over his last five appearances, Pérez has a 2.08 ERA. Red Sox designated hitter Masataka Yoshida is coming off a strong performance Sunday, going 2-for-4 with a home run and an RBI against the Twins. He has struggled for consistency otherwise, hitting .167 over his last eight games. Series history Atlanta has won three of four head-to-head matchups this season, outscoring Boston 20-10. The teams split a two-game series in Atlanta in mid-May before the Braves won Tuesday’s opener in Boston. Betting line Atlanta is a -1.5 favorite, according to Interstat’s game simulator, which projects a 5-3 Braves victory. The over/under is set at 8 runs. Up next The series continues Thursday before the Braves travel to Cincinnati for a three-game set beginning Friday. Boston hosts the Guardians for a three-game series starting Friday.
