ARLINGTON, Texas (Interstat) — The Houston Astros and Texas Rangers renew their Lone Star Series rivalry Tuesday night at Globe Life Park, with the visiting Astros seeking a second consecutive victory following a 4-0 win Monday. Houston (23-31) aims to build momentum after an 8-5 victory Sunday at the Chicago Cubs. The Astros, who have won four of their last six games, will start right-hander Jason Alexander (1-0). Texas (24-28) counters with right-hander Jack Leiter (1-4), who will look to rebound from a string of inconsistent outings. The Rangers dropped their third straight game Sunday, a 2-1 loss at the Los Angeles Angels, despite a strong start from left-hander MacKenzie Gore. Gore allowed one run on one hit over six innings with seven strikeouts in a losing effort. Houston’s offense has been sparked recently by infielder Nick Allen, who went 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs in Sunday’s win over the Cubs. Allen is 4-for-5 over his last two games and has been a productive bat in the middle of the Astros’ lineup. Tuesday’s matchup is the second of a four-game set. The Astros have won four of the last five meetings between the teams, including a three-game sweep in Houston from May 15-16. The Rangers’ lone win in that stretch was an 8-0 shutout at Minute Maid Park on May 17. Texas has struggled to generate consistent offense, scoring just three runs in its last two games. Leiter has lost his last two decisions and has a 5.23 ERA over his past three starts. According to Interstat’s game simulator, Houston is projected to win 5-3. Texas is a minus-1.5 favorite on the run line, and the over/under is set at 8 runs. The teams will meet again Wednesday and Thursday before Houston returns home to host Milwaukee and Texas welcomes Kansas City.
