MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (Interstat) — The Atlanta Braves look to bounce back from a lopsided defeat Monday afternoon when they face the Miami Marlins on Tuesday evening at loanDepot Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. under a forecast of 83 degrees with rain. The Braves (32-15) own the best record in the National League, but were blanked 12-0 by the Marlins in the series opener. Atlanta sends left-hander Martín Pérez (2-2, 4.50 ERA) to the mound. The Marlins (21-26) counter with left-hander Braxton Garrett (0-1, 5.40 ERA), who makes his third start of the season after missing time with an arm injury. Atlanta enters with momentum from a 3-2 homestand against Boston and the Chicago Cubs, capped by an 8-1 victory Sunday. The Braves have won seven of their last 10 games. Miami has dropped three of its last four, including a 6-3 loss at Tampa Bay on Sunday. Players to watch For Atlanta, right-hander Grant Holmes has been a force out of the bullpen, winning each of his last four appearances. In his most recent outing Sunday against the Red Sox, Holmes tossed six scoreless innings, allowing five hits and striking out four. Over his last four games covering 21 innings, he has allowed 10 earned runs with 17 strikeouts. For Miami, shortstop Otto Lopez has been consistent at the plate. He went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Sunday’s loss and is hitting .333 (10-for-30) over his last nine games with four RBIs. Head-to-head The Marlins pounded Atlanta 12-0 on Monday, evening the season series at 2-2. Miami took two of three from the Braves in Atlanta from April 13-15, winning 10-4 and losing 6-5 and 6-3. Betting line Atlanta is a -1.5 favorite, according to Interstat’s game simulator. The over/under is set at 8 runs. The simulator projects a 7-5 Miami victory. Up next The series continues Wednesday and Thursday, both at loanDepot Park. Atlanta then returns home for three games against the Washington Nationals starting Friday. Miami hosts the New York Mets for a three-game set beginning Friday.
