Preview: Mets at Angels ANAHEIM, Calif. (Interstat) β€” The New York Mets look to snap a three-game skid Saturday when they face the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium in a matchup of struggling teams near the bottom of their divisions. First pitch is scheduled for 6:38 p.m. PDT. Right-hander Nolan McLean (1-2, 4.50 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Mets, who are 10-21. Left-hander Reid Detmers (1-2, 5.40 ERA) is the probable starter for the Angels (12-20). New York dropped the series opener 2-0 on Friday, its fourth loss in five games. The Mets have scored two runs or fewer in six of their past nine contests. One bright spot for the Mets has been right-hander Freddy Peralta, who has posted a 1.88 ERA over his last three appearances, all in relief or as a bulk pitcher. In his most recent outing Thursday against Washington, Peralta worked six innings, allowing one earned run with six strikeouts in a 5-4 loss. The Angels have lost four straight and eight of their last nine. Their bullpen has been taxed, with a 5.79 ERA over the past week. Right-hander Mitch Farris has been effective in limited duty, allowing one earned run over 4 2/3 innings in his last two appearances, including a 3 2/3-inning stint Wednesday at Chicago. Los Angeles is coming off a 3-2, 10-inning loss to the White Sox. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 2-1 Mets victory, and the ELO system gives New York a 54.4% probability to win. The Mets are listed as -1.5 run-line favorites, with the over/under set at 8. Players to watch: Mets left fielder MJ Melendez homered and drove in three runs Thursday, and has five RBIs over his past four games. Angels shortstop Zach Neto is 4 for 11 with two doubles in his last three contests. The Mets will send McLean to the mound for the first time against the Angels. Detmers, who has allowed 11 earned runs over his last three starts (14 2/3 innings), will seek his second win. Both teams have struggled offensively: the Mets are averaging 3.1 runs per game, the Angels 3.7. New York continues its road trip Sunday in Anaheim before heading to Colorado. The Angels conclude the series Sunday and then host the Chicago White Sox for three games starting Monday.
