ARLINGTON, Texas (Interstat) — The Texas Rangers and Athletics, each 13-12, meet Saturday at Globe Life Park in Arlington in the second game of a three-game series. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. under cloudy skies with temperatures near 86 degrees. The Athletics have not announced a starter, with left-handers Jeffrey Springs (3-1) and MacKenzie Gore (2-2) listed as probable. Texas will send right-hander Jacob deGrom (5-0) to the mound. deGrom has won all five of his starts this season, most recently allowing one run over 5 2/3 innings with 10 strikeouts in a 6-1 victory over Pittsburgh on Thursday. He has a 1.42 ERA with 35 strikeouts in 25 1/3 innings. Player to watch for Texas is deGrom, who has not lost a decision this season and has yielded more than one earned run only once. For the Athletics, right-hander Aaron Civale remains a key arm despite not starting Saturday. In his last outing April 22 at Seattle, Civale took a loss after allowing three earned runs over 5 1/3 innings in a 5-4 defeat. Over his past two starts, he has given up one earned run in 10 2/3 innings. The teams split their first four games of the season series. Texas took two of three in Oakland from April 13-16, winning 9-6 and 8-1, while the Athletics won 6-5 and 2-1. Oakland won Friday’s series opener 3-0. The Athletics are coming off a 5-4 loss at Seattle on Wednesday, while Texas defeated Pittsburgh 6-1 on Thursday. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-4 Athletics victory. Texas is a -1.5 favorite on the run line, and the over/under is 7.5. The series concludes Sunday. The Athletics then host Kansas City for three games starting Tuesday, while Texas hosts the New York Yankees for three beginning Monday.
