LAS VEGAS (Interstat) — The Carolina Hurricanes and Vegas Golden Knights meet Saturday in a pivotal Game 3 of their playoff series at T-Mobile Arena, with the best-of-seven matchup tied 1-1 after the Golden Knights’ 5-4 victory Tuesday in Raleigh. Carolina (65-31) enters as the visiting team for the first time this series, looking to regain home-ice advantage after dropping the most recent contest. The Hurricanes dominated the regular season with the league’s best record but have lost two straight head-to-head meetings dating to Oct. 28, when Vegas won 6-3. Carolina’s last win against the Golden Knights came Oct. 20, a 4-1 decision in Las Vegas. Nikolaj Ehlers will be a key figure for the Hurricanes. The left wing scored two goals on two shots in Tuesday’s loss and has been productive throughout the postseason, recording at least one point in five of his last seven games. Ehlers had a goal and an assist in Games 1 and 2 of the previous round against Montreal and posted two assists in a series-clinching win May 27. Shea Theodore leads a Vegas defense that has frustrated Carolina’s offense. The defenseman recorded a goal and two assists in Tuesday’s win, his fifth multi-point outing in nine playoff games. Theodore has been effective at both ends of the ice, registering seven hits and two points in Vegas’ series-closing win over Colorado on May 20. The Golden Knights (52-47) have won four of their last five games and have not lost at home since Oct. 20, when Carolina handed them a 4-1 defeat. Vegas is 6-1 at T-Mobile Arena this postseason, with the lone loss coming in overtime to Anaheim on May 10. Game 3 marks the third meeting in six days between the clubs. The series continues with Game 4 on Tuesday in Las Vegas and Game 5 on June 11 in Raleigh. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. EDT.
