RALEIGH, N.C. (Interstat) — The Carolina Hurricanes host the Montreal Canadiens on Friday at Lenovo Center in Game 5 of their second-round playoff series, with the best-of-seven matchup tied 2-2 after Carolina’s 3-2 overtime victory Monday. The Hurricanes (63-30) hold the better regular-season record, while the Canadiens (57-42) have shown resilience on the road. Three of the four games in this series have required overtime, and the home team has won the past two contests. Players to watch Montreal goaltender Jakub Dobes has been a workhorse in the postseason. In his past 10 starts, he has posted a 5-5 record with a .910 save percentage. Dobes made 35 saves on 38 shots in Monday’s overtime loss and stopped 25 of 26 shots in Montreal’s 6-2 victory in Game 3 on May 21. However, he allowed three goals on 26 shots in the Game 2 overtime loss May 23. Dobes will need to replicate his Game 3 form to give the Canadiens a chance to take a series lead. Carolina left wing Taylor Hall has been productive in the series. He scored a goal on seven shots in Monday’s win, his second goal in four playoff games this postseason. Hall also recorded three assists in the Hurricanes’ series-clinching win over Philadelphia on May 9. His physical play — two hits Monday — adds another dimension to Carolina’s attack. Series history Montreal won Game 3 at Lenovo Center, 6-2, before Carolina responded with the overtime victory in Montreal. The Canadiens also beat Carolina 5-2 on March 24 and 7-5 on Jan. 1 during the regular season. The Hurricanes won the regular-season finale between the teams 3-1 on March 29 in Raleigh. Montreal advanced past Buffalo in five games, while Carolina eliminated Philadelphia in five. The winner of this series will face the winner of the other conference semifinal. Game 6 is scheduled for Sunday in Montreal, with a potential Game 7 back in Raleigh on Tuesday.
