MONTREAL (Interstat) — The Carolina Hurricanes and Montreal Canadiens meet Wednesday night at Bell Centre in Game 4 of their playoff series, with the best-of-seven tied 1-1 after two games in Carolina. Carolina (62-30), the higher seed with the league’s second-best regular-season record, won Game 2 on May 23, 3-2 in overtime, after Montreal (57-41) took the opener 6-2 on May 21. The series now shifts to Montreal, where the Canadiens have a strong home record and a raucous crowd at historic Bell Centre. Nikolaj Ehlers will be a key player for the Hurricanes. The left winger scored two goals on five shots in Game 2, including the overtime winner. In his past five games, Ehlers has three goals and one assist, with 11 shots on goal. He also scored in Carolina’s first-round sweep of Philadelphia, posting goals in Games 1, 4 and 5. Josh Anderson leads Montreal’s attack. The right winger scored both Canadiens goals in Game 2, recording two shots and a hit. Over his past four games, Anderson has four goals and has added three assists. He was a consistent force in Montreal’s first-round series against Buffalo, collecting points in five of six games. Carolina’s depth has been a factor. Eric Robinson scored the other goal in Game 2, and defenseman Jalen Chatfield had two assists. For Montreal, center Phillip Danault has four assists in the series, and defenseman Kaiden Guhle has a point in each game. The Hurricanes have won three of their past four games, all decided by one goal or in overtime. The Canadiens have won four of their past six, with three of those victories coming in extra time. Montreal won the regular-season series 3-1, outscoring Carolina 18-10. The Canadiens’ home win on March 24 was a 5-2 decision. However, Carolina’s overtime victory in Game 2 gave the Hurricanes momentum heading into Montreal. Game 4 is set for 7 p.m. ET. The winner will take a 2-1 series lead. Game 5 is Friday in Carolina, and Game 6 would be Sunday in Montreal if necessary.
