MONTREAL (Interstat) — The Buffalo Sabres visit the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night at Bell Centre in a pivotal Game 4 of their NHL playoff series, which is tied 1-1 after Montreal’s 5-1 victory on Friday and Buffalo’s 4-2 win on Wednesday. The Sabres (55-35 overall) look to regain the series lead after a lopsided loss in Game 2, while the Canadiens (53-38) aim to seize home-ice advantage with a second consecutive win at the Bell Centre. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. EDT. Buffalo left wing Zach Benson has been a consistent offensive contributor this postseason. The 21-year-old recorded a goal and a shot on goal, along with two penalty minutes, in the 5-1 loss Friday. He added two assists in the Sabres’ Game 1 victory. Benson has six goals and six assists across 10 playoff games, with a plus-minus rating of plus-4. Montreal center Alex Newhook delivered a two-goal performance in Game 2, firing four shots on goal and landing one hit. Newhook has scored in two of his past three games and has three goals and four assists this postseason. His offensive presence will be key against a Buffalo defense that has allowed 11 goals over the past three games. The series has been marked by swings in momentum. Montreal’s 5-1 win Friday featured a 27-save effort from goaltender Jakub Dobes, while Buffalo’s 4-2 win in Game 1 saw 23 saves from Alex Lyon. The Sabres will likely turn to Lyon again after he stopped 23 of 27 shots in the loss. Buffalo’s power play has struggled, converting on 2 of 12 opportunities in the series. Montreal’s penalty kill has been solid, extinguishing 10 of 12 Sabres man-advantages. The Canadiens have also been disciplined, taking only five minor penalties in two games. If necessary, Game 5 is scheduled for Thursday in Buffalo, with the series shifting back to Montreal for Game 6 on Saturday. A potential Game 7 would be Monday in Buffalo.
