BUFFALO, N.Y. (Interstat) β The Montreal Canadiens and Buffalo Sabres meet Friday night at KeyBank Center in Game 2 of their playoff series. The Sabres lead the best-of-seven series 1-0 after a 4-2 victory Wednesday. Montreal (52-37) looks to even the series behind goaltender Jakub Dobes, who has a 3-5 record with a .903 save percentage across his past eight starts. In his most recent outing May 3 against Tampa Bay, Dobes stopped 28 of 29 shots in a 2-1 win. He had 32 saves on 33 shots in a 1-0 overtime loss May 1 and 38 saves on 40 shots in a 3-2 win April 29. For the postseason, Dobes holds a 3-2 record with a .929 save percentage against Tampa Bay in the first round. Buffalo (54-34) aims to take a 2-0 series lead at home. Center Tage Thompson enters with three points (two assists) in his past two games. He posted two assists, five shots and one hit in Buffaloβs 4-1 win over Boston on May 1. Over his past eight contests, Thompson has four goals, three assists and 33 shots. The Sabres won three of five regular-season meetings against Montreal, including a 4-2 win Wednesday in Game 1. Buffalo also took games Jan. 15 (5-3) and Jan. 22 (4-2), while Montreal won Jan. 31 (4-2) and Oct. 20, 2025 (4-2). Montreal forward Nick Suzuki scored once with three shots and three hits in a 2-1 win over Tampa Bay on May 3. Defenseman Kaiden Guhle added two assists in that game. Alex Lyon earned the win for Buffalo on May 1 against Boston with 25 saves on 26 shots. Josh Norris scored once for the Sabres. The series continues with Games 3 and 4 in Montreal on Sunday and Tuesday.
