Preview: Flyers Look to Sweep Penguins in Game 4 PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — The Philadelphia Flyers will aim to close out their first-round playoff series against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday at Xfinity Live Arena. Game 4 of the best-of-seven series is set for 7 p.m. EDT. The Flyers hold a 3-0 lead in the series and a 46-39 regular-season record. The Penguins finished the season at 41-44. Philadelphia has dominated the series, winning 5-2 on Wednesday, 3-0 on Monday and 3-2 on Saturday. The Flyers have outscored Pittsburgh 11-4 in three games and have not trailed in any contest. Noah Cates has been a key contributor for Philadelphia. In Wednesday’s win, the left wing recorded a goal and an assist with three shots on goal. Over his past 10 games, Cates has tallied three goals and six assists, including a two-point effort against Winnipeg on April 11. For Pittsburgh, center Evgeni Malkin remains a threat despite the series deficit. Malkin scored in Game 3 and had a goal with two shots on goal in Game 1. Over his last nine games, Malkin has five goals and five assists. He erupted for three goals and an assist against Florida on April 4. The Penguins have dropped five straight games overall. Their last victory came against New Jersey on April 9. Saturday’s game marks the fourth of a potential seven-game series. The teams are scheduled to play again Monday in Pittsburgh. If necessary, Game 6 would be Wednesday in Philadelphia and Game 7 on May 2 in Pittsburgh. The Penguins have been eliminated in the first round in each of the past three seasons. The Flyers have not advanced past the opening round since 2020.
