OTTAWA (Interstat) — The Carolina Hurricanes look to take a commanding 3-1 lead in their first-round playoff series against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday at Canadian Tire Centre. Game 4 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinal is set for 7 p.m. EDT. The Hurricanes, who hold a 2-1 series edge after a 2-1 victory Thursday afternoon, bring a 56-29 overall record into the matchup. The Senators are 44-41. Carolina’s Logan Stankoven has been a consistent offensive force. The center has recorded a goal in each of the first three games of the series, including Thursday’s game-winner on four shots. Over his last 10 contests, Stankoven has seven goals and four assists, with multiple points against Ottawa, Chicago and Columbus in April. Ottawa will counter with goaltender Linus Ullmark, who has faced heavy volume in the series. He stopped 25 of 27 shots in Thursday’s loss and has a .905 save percentage over his last three starts. Ullmark owns a 5-3 record in his previous eight decisions, including a 25-save win against Carolina on April 5. Thursday’s game saw Frederik Andersen earn the win for Carolina with 21 saves. Taylor Hall added two assists for the Hurricanes. Drake Batherson scored the lone goal for Ottawa, and Ridly Greig recorded three shots. The Senators have struggled to generate offense against Carolina’s defense, managing two goals or fewer in three of the last four head-to-head meetings. The Hurricanes have won four of the six regular-season and playoff matchups this season. Both teams are scheduled to return to Raleigh for Game 5 on Monday. The winner of this series will advance to the second round.
