JETS, GOLDEN KNIGHTS MEET IN LAS VEGAS WITH SEASONS WINDING DOWN LAS VEGAS (Interstat) — Two teams on the outside of the playoff picture will meet when the Winnipeg Jets visit the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena on Monday night. Both clubs enter the late-season contest with nearly identical, disappointing records. The Jets sit at 35-43-0, while the Golden Knights are just one point ahead at 36-43-0. With only a handful of games remaining, the matchup serves as a battle for pride and potential draft positioning. Winnipeg arrives with momentum, having won three of its last four games, including a 3-2 victory at St. Louis on Thursday. Defenseman Josh Morrissey scored the game-winning goal in that contest and has been a consistent offensive contributor from the blue line. In his last 10 games, Morrissey has recorded three goals and six assists, anchoring a Jets power play that has fueled their recent 6-4-0 stretch. Vegas looks to rebound after a 4-3 shootout loss in Seattle on Thursday. The Golden Knights had been on a modest uptick prior to that, going 4-1-1 in their previous six contests. Winger Keegan Kolesar, a physical presence on Vegas’s checking line, will be a player to watch. He recorded an assist and was plus-2 in the Golden Knights’ 3-2 win over Dallas on March 22, but was held without a point and was minus-3 in a 4-1 loss to these same Jets on March 24. The season series is tied 1-1. Winnipeg dominated the most recent meeting on March 24, a 4-1 home victory where Morrissey logged an assist. Vegas took the first matchup in dramatic fashion, a 4-3 overtime win in Winnipeg back on Jan. 6. For the Jets, center Mark Scheifele, who had two assists against St. Louis, remains a central offensive threat. Vegas will counter with its top line of Jack Eichel and Mark Stone, who combined for three points in the loss to Seattle. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. PDT. The Jets continue their road trip Tuesday in Utah, while the Golden Knights host the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday.
